SPEAKERS DATABASE

Dr. Sarah Kimball is a patient innovator and advocate, having lived a healthy and active life with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) for 33 years. She has run three NYC marathons, led wilderness backpacking trips and traveled to places as remote as Bhutan. Her experiences as a patient, particularly a pediatric patient, inspired her to pursue a career as a pediatrician. Graduating from Harvard with a BA, she went onto receive her MD from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. After her five-year-old son Sam was diagnosed with T1D, she started her own private practice for families of children with T1D in New York City, but at home, her focus on T1D took a revolutionary turn as she also partnered with her husband Bryan Mazlish to develop the world’s first homemade automated insulin delivery system. Dr. Kimball and her son were the first people to use this system, from which they have benefited for over four years and which became the proof-of-concept device for Bigfoot Biomedical.
