About the Black Women’s Health Imperative:
We are changing Black women’s lives through advocacy and public policy, health education, research and leadership development; BWHI works to advance health equity and social justice for Black women across the lifespan. Policy and Advocacy, Evidence-based Programs, Research Translation,
Women’s Empowerment and Leadership Development, founded in 1983, the BWHI strives to eliminate racial and gender-based health inequities and deepen Black women’s resolve in becoming informed decision makers to achieve optimum health and wellness. As part of our commitment to Black women we: Advocate for policies that increase access to and opportunities for improving health outcomes for Black women and families. Educate and train the next generation of leaders for building the Black women’s health movement.  Amplify the voices of Black women to shift public perception and policies for social change.
