SPEAKERS DATABASE Kathy Tune Speaker Kathleen Tune is the CFO/COO and board chair of Marani Health, Inc., a digital maternal and fetal health care solutions company. Her background includes venture capital and growth equity investing, M&A transaction expertise, corporate strategy, business development, sales and marketing strategy, and reimbursement strategy in companies ranging from startups to large organizations in the healthcare. She is an active corporate board director, including leading and participating on audit, finance, and compensation committees. She is a Managing Partner with Capita3, an early-stage venture capital fund focused on women led healthcare startup founders and was a partner at Thomas, McNerney & Partners, where she led and managed portions of the investment portfolio. She has extensive community leadership involvement and serves on several non-profit boards, including Gillette Children’s Hospital and the University Enterprise Laboratories. Kathleen currently serves on the corporate boards of Marani Health, Inc., Electromed, Inc (NYSE American: ELMD) and Agitated Solutions, Inc. In addition to her active corporate board seats, Kathleen has previously served on the boards or in board advisory roles to a number of additional companies including VertiFlex, Inc. (Acquired), CAS Medical Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CASM) (Acquired), Galil Medical Ltd (Acquired), Endogenex, Inc., Softscope Medical Technologies, Inc. (Acquired), Torax Medical, Inc. (Acquired), Atritech, Inc. (Acquired), AppTec Laboratory Services, Inc. (Acquired), and CNS Therapeutics, Inc. (Acquired). Kathleen also has a significant healthcare consulting background in strategic planning, business development, finance and management, in addition to investment consulting. Kathleen has also been an active consultant in her career and has taken on a variety of operating roles with health care technology clients, including CFO, business development lead and head of strategy. Prior to her current roles as the Marani CFO/COO and General Partner with Capita3, she was a partner at Thomas, McNerney & Partners, a leading U.S. healthcare private equity firm. At Thomas, McNerney, she led and managed portfolio company investments with a primary focus in health care technologies, diagnostics and connected medical devices. Prior to joining Thomas, McNerney & Partners, Kathleen was a healthcare equity analyst with Piper Sandler (Piper Jaffray) focusing on medical technology companies where she provided in-depth market and financial analysis of the industry and specific companies. She also advised companies and public and private market investors on issues related to the medical device and diagnostics industries and participant in a number of initial public offerings and follow-on public offerings. Prior to joining Piper Sandler, Kathleen was a new product development manager with Solvay, S.A. (in a division that became a part of Pfizer/Zoetis) leading high-profile projects developing vaccines for the prevention of viral infections. Kathleen was also a Senior Scientist in at the University of Minnesota, where she developed molecular biology-based assays for the detection of infectious agents and launched an in-house molecular diagnostics laboratory to commercialize these products.
