SPEAKERS DATABASE Karen Drexler Speaker Karen Drexler brings board governance and leadership, experience leading and growing medtech companies and a passion for using data to drive improvements in healthcare outcomes and costs to the board room. Ms. Drexler is on the board of ResMed (NYSE), a market leading company in the disordered breathing space, where she serves on the Compensation (Comp) and Nomination & Governance (N&G) committees. ResMed is a leader in the digital health arena, with millions of connected devices capturing sleep and other data every night. Ms. Drexler is also a director for Outset Medical (Nasdaq) where she serves on the Comp and N&G committees. Outset is a medical technology company pioneering a first- of-its-kind technology to reduce the cost and complexity of dialysis. Ms. Drexler is on the Tivic Health (Nasdaq) board, a neuromodulation company initially targeting relief of sinus pain and pressure, where she chairs the Comp and N&G committees. She also joined the board of EBR Systems (ASX), a pioneering company in cardiac rhythm management, where she chairs the Renumeration and Governance committee. Ms. Drexler also sits on the boards of two private SAAS / AI in health companies: VIDA Diagnostics and Huma.ai. She is a member of Women Corporate Directors, Everest (formerly G100) and Stanford Women on Boards. Ms. Drexler was named one of the Most Influential Directors by Women Inc. Magazine in 2018. Ms. Drexler has extensive operational and entrepreneurial experience. She founded and ran Amira Medical until its sale to Roche Diabetes Care. She managed a variety of functions at LifeScan, a pioneer in home blood glucose monitoring, and executed the sale of the Company to Johnson and Johnson. Recently, she was CEO of Sandstone Diagnostics, a life science tools company focused on increasing access to diagnostic testing (technology was acquired by LabCorp). An inventor on 11 issued patents, she was also named Female Entrepreneur of the Year by the Stevie Awards, 2013, and Entrepreneurial Woman of the Year by Silicon Valley Women’s Fund, 2002. Ms. Drexler is active in Astia (www.astia.com) and Springboard (www.sb.co), nonprofit organizations that support female entrepreneurs. She provides team support and mentoring for StartX, the off campus Stanford accelerator. Karen is a native of New Jersey, and received her M.B.A. from Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a B.S.E. in chemical engineering from Princeton University. She and her husband Andy, a fellow Stanford M.B.A., reside in the San Francisco Bay Area.
