Dr. Aenor Sawyer, has more than two decades of experience in development and evaluation of health technologies, remote medical management, and distributed care models. She is the Director of Innovator Enrichment and Senior Alliance Manager in UCSF Innovation Ventures, a member of the UCSF IT Governance Committee, Co-Founder/Co-Director of the UCSF Center for Advanced 3D+ Technologies, and Co-Founder of the Center for Digital Health Innovation.

She has unique expertise in Extreme Medicine, SpaceHealth and Distributed Healthcare Delivery. Dr. Sawyer’s experience in remote medical management includes 15 years as an Expedition Medic and Medical Advisor for extreme ocean rowers.  She is the Founder/Director of UC Space Health and was previously Chief Health Innovation Officer for NASA’s Translational Research Institute for Space Health (TRISH). She currently conducts research with NASA JSC, NASA Ames, and the Australian Antarctic Division. External roles also include International Advisory Board ANDHealth, MCRI HealthTech Advisory Board, NODE Health Board, External Advisory Board (EAB) of the Scripps Translational Sciences Institute, and Associate Editor of Nature’s Digital Medicine Journal.

In her Clinical Role, Dr. Sawyer is Founder and Director of the UCSF Skeletal Health Service where she combines her backgrounds as a Physical Therapist, Exercise Physiologist, and Orthopaedic Surgeon to help Pediatric through Geriatric patients optimize bone health across their lifespans.  Dr Sawyer’s career includes 10 years as a Physical Therapist, after which she received an M.S. in Human Physiology and her M.D. from the University of California, Davis. Upon completion of her Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Stanford University, she completed fellowship training in Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery and Paediatric/Adolescent and Adult Sports Medicine, at Boston Children’s Hospital, in the Harvard Orthopaedic program.
