Vice President, Financial Planning & Analysis and Investor Relations - Sunnyvale California

Accuray is seeking an exceptional VP of FP&A and Investor Relations to join our medical device company in the radiation therapy space, which innovates patient-first cancer treatment, empowering treatment teams around the world to transform the fight against cancer.

This role requires a deep understanding of FP&A best practices and how to use them to scale an organization that is global with sales in the Americas, Europe, Asia. The FP&A team prides itself on being a, solution-driven, strategic partner to the business. You’ll be joining a data-driven Company and will be empowered to challenge the status quo and make an impact.

This role will also be critical to our investor relations team. Accuray is seeking someone who can support the investor relations function and is comfortable speaking with our buy-side and sell-side analyst while also creating content to outline our strategy and value proposition to investors.

As our VP of Financial Planning & Analysis, you will:

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Partner with the CFO and business leaders to oversee the company’s quarterly and annual budgeting processes, monthly rolling forecast and long-term plan
  • Facilitate resource allocation towards the company’s growth objectives
  • Manage capital structure and relationships with debt holders
  • Oversee comprehensive reporting, analyses and projections of metrics and financials. Develop and enhance necessary dashboards to track business performance, identify trends and proactively engage with functional leaders to stay ahead of key changes to the business
  • Continuously improve financial modeling, forecasting and reporting and -- both process and technology, including keeping up with industry best practices
  • Lead preparation of finance materials for presentation to the board of directors
  • This role also includes Investor Relations responsibilities, which include: quarterly earnings call script writing, preparing investor presentations, meeting with buy-side and sell-side analyst, and value creation messaging
  • We are seeking a finance professional who is proactive and can challenge the status quo, but who will also listen to others and collaborate to support broader company goals
  • Identify risks and opportunities to management and recommend strategies to achieve company financial goals (monthly, quarterly, annual and long-term)
  • Provide ongoing mentorship, training, and development of direct and indirect reports, across different office locations



  • 12+ years’ experience in relevant roles across Finance, FP&A and/or Accounting
  • Highly cross-functional leader who can own the Strategic Forecasting and Operational Planning process.
  • Past accounting experience/CPA a plus
  • Demonstrated previous leadership experience, including managing, building, leading and recognizing high performing teams with diverse levels of expertise
  • Proven ability to build strong working relationships with senior executives and department heads as a trusted and objective advisor with the know-how to motivate change and results by maneuvering through formal and informal organization channels as needed
  • Superb analytical/quantitative skills and strong executive presence is critical
  • Strong financial modeling skills and the ability to draw, translate and communicate critical insights into analysis
  • Set high standards and foster a sense of teamwork and pride with his/her group
  • Attention to detail and the highest standards for accuracy

Preferred or Desired:

  • Public market experience
  • Capital equipment industry experience
