This position is in the Neuroscience portfolio group working on mobile and web applications serving deep brain stimulation, spinal cord stimulation, sacral neural stimulation, and targeted drug delivery therapies.

A Day in the Life

The Principal DevOps Engineer role is a hands-on role, focused on growing DevOps skills and culture across Medtronic while building and optimizing our CI/CD pipelines. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders and our leadership team to identify and evaluate new technologies and tools to continuously improve our automation processes.

You will:

  • Work with software development, testing, and systems teams to surface requirements for a fully automated continuous build, test, deployment and monitoring pipeline
  • Be responsible for architecture, design, development of new technologies in our CI/CD pipelines to maximize efficiency and reliability of the build and deployment of our mobile and web-based medical apps
  • Architect and implement DevOps tooling such as Jenkins, SonarQube, GitLab to support continuous integration and self-service
  • Plan and deliver using Agile methodologies
  • Lead the automation of routine work and enable other groups through self-service
  • Develop and maintain sound version control best practices, including branching and merging strategies
  • Work with leadership and development teams to establish best practices and common tools
  • Work with other principals across Medtronic operating units to share knowledge and solutions
  • Evangelize for design and implementation of solutions that will maximize innovation and high reliability
  • Mentor and develop automation skills as well as building a DevOps mindset across the organization

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in a technically related filed required
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience

Nice to Have

  • Programming experience – Java, Python, Groovy, Javascript, Kotlin, Swift
  • Version control expertise, particularly in GitLab
  • Experience designing and architecting CI/CD pipelines
  • Depth of experience with automation, build and configuration tools such as Jenkins, Rundeck, Ansible Tower, GitLab, SonarQube, Terraform
  • Experience with cloud-based testing platforms such as SauceLabs, Kobiton
  • Test tool framework experience, such as Katalon, TestComplete, EggPlant
  • Experience with web analytics tools, such as FireBase
  • Experience with containerization tools and infrastructure, including Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with supporting Web Applications - Web servers, monitoring, networking
  • System integration and scripting expertise
  • Server monitoring and maintenance tools
  • Experience with AWS or GCP
