This Program Director is a member of the Pelvic Health Staff Product Development Staff. This position is a Core Team Leader position, with responsibilities for leading the design, development, delivery, and maintenance of a digital health ecosystem to serve Pelvic Health patients and clinicians. This role includes responsibility for product development which fuses multiple disciplines including mobile, cloud, and web applications in order to deliver insights which improve usability and therapy efficacy.  It includes setting the strategy and roadmap for the digital portfolio, partnering with others to maintain alignment and handoffs with internal and external integrations, and managing direction of all phases of design and development to execute the digital portfolio.

This role requires a blend of strengths in three key areas:

Program Leadership with strong interpersonal skills

Business Acumen with strong ties to partners in commercialization of products (Development, Operations, Marketing, Regulatory, Quality, Clinical, Finance, Customers, etc.)

Ability to learn a new space quickly, think outside the box to scope new solutions, push the organization into new ways to think, and monitor market trends that may have a strategic impact on the program

The Digital Portfolio Director will coordinate all program efforts among multiple functions through Core Team Members and Functional Leaders to facilitate high quality, comprehensive, and efficient project scoping, on time/on budget development, verification/validation efforts, regulatory submissions, manufacturing ramp, and commercialization.  They will also ensure the right extended team members are included within the planned budget and available when needed by the team.  Regular communication with the Operating Unit leaders is critical to ensure issues are resolved and alignment of messages are clear to maintain schedule milestones and adherence to spend (both expenses and capital allocation).

The Digital Portfolio Director has responsibility for the entire program and will work with program team members and functional leaders on ensuring crisp and clear information exchange within the team and to stakeholders, communicate the business case for the program, and commercialization needs/plans to achieve the planned objectives agreed to for the product or system.

A Day in the Life 

  • Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
  • Partners with Upstream Marketing to understand user needs, partner with R&D and other functions to propose portfolio roadmap solutions, and gain organizational alignment on project initiatives
  • Leads or leverages cross functional teams to evaluate, develop and manage projects for new product development and ongoing lifecycle management.
  • Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management.
  • Manages the development and implementation process of a company’s products and services involving departmental or cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of new or existing products and processes.
  • Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports.
  • Monitors and leads the project from initiation through delivery.
  • Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.
  • Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving.
  • Gathers requirements, works on requirements planning, requirements elicitation and requirements management to ensure they meet demands of project’s key stakeholders.
  • Communicates with stakeholders, obtains stakeholder engagement to ensure the end products or processes will solve the business problems.
  • Accountable for overall program execution and scope.  Works with functional core/extended team members and other leaders/teams to ensure clear communication of project/program objectives, deliverables, and timing of key milestones.  Proactively resolves conflict.
  • Effective use of project schedules and work breakdown to manage project critical path activities.
  • Understands applicable product standards and procedures and navigates the matrix to provide the required regulatory deliverables.
  • Maintains effective communication with the business leadership team, team members and regional/functional leadership in all activities
  • Monitors progress toward pre-established objectives, assesses risk and implements strategies to ensure successful delivery of the efforts that align with business and region goals.
  • Maintains strong focus on time-to-market while solving problems creatively; cuts through complexity
  • Delivers results with uncompromising quality, integrity, and ethics

Must Have: Minimum Requirements 

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience

Nice to Have 

  • BS degree in engineering or business. Ten years of project and/or people management experience.
  • MBA degree

  • Ability to drive decision making across the team with limited input
  • Demonstrated strong business acumen and planning.

  • Results oriented. Ability to drive to completion in adherence to aggressive project schedules.

  • Ability to travel up to 25% as needed (project dependent)
